Tutorial: Put your Slide Effect Presentation on a video DVD
Introduction
Update:
Updated version of this tutorial is available here:
English version: Create a video DVD with a presentation
French version: Créer un DVD vidéo avec une présentation
In this tutorial, I will teach you how to create a video DVD (a DVD that you can read with your home cinema DVD player) from a presentation or a set of Slide Effect presentations.
First step: Export your movie from Slide Effect
Please launch Slide Effect, then open the presentation you wish to export on the web (Menu File/Open...). In this tutorial we will use the "Funky" sample available here.
Then click on menu File/Export Presentation..., a small wizard dialog will popup.
On the first step, please press on Export presentation to a movie (...) button.

On the next pane, please select DVD NTSC or DVD PAL depending of your country (basically, if you are in the US, choose NTSC, otherwise choose PAL) in the radio buttons and enter a filename for your output file:

Then click Next button, Slide Effect will display a small warning about disabling your screensaver: Sometimes, if screensaver appears during export, some frames on the output movies will be plain black.
Where is the option to disable my screensaver?

|---|
On Slide Effect Wizard, press Next to start export. Wait some minutes (export can be a bit long... well, go take a coffee, it is sometimes really loooong) and when it is finished click Ok and close Slide Effect.
Second step: use DVD Flick to create your DVD
In the tutorial we will use DVD Flick to create our DVD. It is a free and full featured software to create movie DVD, with cute menus and a tons of other features and options.
You can download it for free here: http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php
Download it and install it.
Then launch DVD Flick, and click on Project Settings button:

On General Tab, change the title to something you like (this title will appear on the main menu), on my case I typed "My Funky Tutorial".
On Video Tab, change the Target Format accordingly to your previous choice in Slide Effect (either PAL or NTSC).
Then click Accept to close the settings dialog.
Now click on Add Title... on the right of the screen:

Choose the avi file you made with Slide Effect in the previous step, the click Open.
You should now see a thumbnail of your movie into DVD Flick:

If you want top create a DVD with several Slide Effect Presentations, click on Add Title... as many time as you want to add all your presentations.
Click now on Menu Settings toolbar button:

and choose the menu you like the most, then press Accept.
It is now time to really burn your beloved DVD! On the toolbar press Create DVD:

button, confirm, wait a little and voilà you have got your brand new presentation on a DVD.

I can now have my movies on dvd and on my report presentation in my work. Thanks for this tutorial. Helpful and informative.

It worked for me.I never thought its gonna be so easy. Thanks a lot for this lovely tutorial.
Love your product very much!
Any chance that the Menu options in DVD Flick can be updated to have more choices for backgrounds selections and edit the menu text to exclude some of the verbage on it. Example: To show title only and play/ Resume. Thanks in advance.
Thanks!
as DVD Flick is not my software, so it would be better to directly ask on their website.
Hi Alain
I have the new version 1.8.0 could you please tell me how to save to dvd it is different from 1.7.5 It has a whole list which one do I choose. Xvid, custom etc. Each time I try to export it goes through but no picture only sound.do you need to change to avi file. even then it still wont show movie only sound. In the HD 720 it come with an error. please help. For now I will have to go back to the old version. cheers heather
Hi Heather,
- To export to the same quality as old "DVD NTSC", please choose "Standard NTSC".
- If you are not able to see the movie when playing the file, it is probably a codec problem. Please check the following page to correct the problem:
http://www.slide-effect.com/content/faq-i-created-a-movie-with-slide-eff...
- What is the error you have when exporting to HD 720?
Hi Alain,
I need to export as a DVD Pal not DVD NTSC As I live in australia. I will get back to you with the HD error thanks heather
I found the problem with the HD export. It will be fixed on 1.8.1.

Can you help me? I've used the DVD Flick program. At the end of trying to create the DVD, I received an error message:
DVD Flick error log
Version 1.3.0.7 build 738
Windows 6.0 build 6002 Service Pack 2
I have saved the error log report. It is very long. Can you tell what prohibits the DVD from being created so I can create one?
PLEASE DISREGARD THIS - I HAVE RUN THE PROGRAM AGAIN AND IT WORKED!!
Well, difficult for me to help: I am not the author of DVD Flick and I never encountered this error.
Maybe try to ask on DVD Flick forum here: http://www.dvdflick.net/forums/
