-----new record* most posts in 1 topic :)-----

hello

first of all i want to thank you for making this wonderfully program.

I have been using slide effect for several days now and i must say its a awesome program.
I have this school assignement, that i have to make a Powerpoint show.
The teacher said i can use any program to help me.
After some hours of working on it with slide effect i converted it to .avi.
So i can insert it into power point.
Now i have tried that but it doesn't work :(
so i tought maybe you have a idea of solving this.

I cant play my .avi file with windows media player neither
sorry for my bad english by the way

oh and by the way you have a great customer service (since its not a world wide used program yet)
And of course ill tell you what the teacher gives me for the presentation :)

regards

wafel

Quick guess: try to rename the avi filename to wmv:

    movie.avi --> movie.wmv

and then try to reimport it into Powerpoint, it may work.

I recently realized that powerpoint checks the filename instead of the real codec.

Tell me if it resolves your problem.

isn't the vista codec package for windows vista only?
    Cause i have windows xp.
Oh and i downloaded a xp package xp codec pack 2.5.0.
Anyway now i downloaded the xp codec pack the .avi file plays in windows media player but not in powerpoint.
i also tried to export it to flv, which didn't work.

i am now trying to put the .avi on youtube, and then import it into powerpoint.

the vista codec package name is misleading but it is also for Windows XP.

You may also try to convert the avi file using Windows Movie Maker,it could help.

woooohooo i finally finished all this stuff.

    what i did is:
1 export the presentation to .avi.
2 uploaded the video to youtube.
3 used a power point swf trick top it in my powerpoint.

ill make a tutorial later on if you want.

woot, happy you (finally) solved the problem.

I really don't understand why you had so much troubles with the movie.

Did the movie played well in windows media player once you installed the vista package?

when i installed the vista codec package i tried opening the .avi but then my whole screen started flashing to my screensaver...
it probably messed up because of the other codec pack :(.
last question: if i get the codecs to work and i want to transfer the .avi to another computer.
do i need to download the pack on that computer to let it works?

    thanks

well, standard movie output of Slide Effect uses the DVD codec. So if you are able to watch a DVD on the target computer it should work.. otherwise you will have to install the DVD codec (which is part of the vista codec package).

It is always a headache when you try to play a movie (not specifically a Slide Effect movie by the way) due to these codec things.
